The team of interns at SIDART has been regularly working towards the betterment of the slum area in Jawahar Nagar, specifically the Kachi basti, Tila No.6. After regular visits, our interns have noted down the problems faced by the residents of the Kachi Basti, which have mostly turned out to be cleanliness amenities and drinking water problems.
The basti’s residents complain that the services of cleaning the area and the gutters there is not regular and in fact even ask for more money to finish the task they have been employed to do.
This leads to a bad smell and unhygienic conditions in the whole area. Similarly, the backside residents complain that when the gutters don’t get cleaned regularly, the water overflows and the sewage water gets mixed up with the drinking water which is already not regular. There is a spread of diseases, dirty water in the houses and streets and unhygienic living conditions.
The interns have noted down their complains, witnessed the problems and collected evidence. They have contacted the related authorities, such as the Nagar Nigam and the water department, and complaint about the conditions of the residents, attached with letters signed by them and photos and videos of the site.
The interns at SIDART have taken up work for the betterment of the residents of slum areas in Jaipur and are working for their betterment, keeping tracks of the complains, maintaining reports of there situations and moving towards progress.
